Install Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) on Backup Exec 2010

First of all, you might have installed BE 2010 on your server.
Open ports in the firewall.
SMB communication / 135-139 TCP/UDP

SMB) communication without NETBIOS / 445 TCP/UDP

SQL / 1434 TCP/UDP

DLOAdminSvcu.exe (DLO admin service) / 3999 in listening mode TCP/UDP

Configure SQL Server to use Named Pipes

Once this done, you have to enable named pipes in your SQLServer instance.

Prepare the configuration for the clients

In BE, go to Tools, Desktop and Laptop Option

You will meet three wizards :

1. The first to create a profile. A profile allows you to define the directories you want to save on the differents client computers.
2. The second to define a storage place. You have to select a folder on your server. DLO will share it automatically
3. The third to map users or groups with a profile and a storage place. You can select either a group or a user.

Installation on clients

You can install the DLO agent manually or using GPO ou a startup script.

1. Manually : go to file://server/DLOAgent and launch setup.exe Don't launch the .msi file, it would not work, and you will be forced uninstall and reinstall using setup.exe
2. Install via GPO : run file://server/DLOAgent/setup.exe using usual command lines switches
3. Push manually on selected computers : using Tools -> Install Agents and Media Servers on Other Servers

Once installed on clients, you will find your users and computers in the DLO administration tool.
